Macro Mike Golden Smooth Pea Protein
Most plant proteins ask you to put up with something — grit, chalk, or an earthy aftertaste that no amount of flavouring quite covers. Macro Mike Golden Smooth Pea Protein was built to fix the texture problem specifically. Golden Canadian peas give it a cleaner, more neutral base than standard pea protein, and added acacia fibre keeps it mixing smooth instead of clumping. It's also the one blend in the Macro Mike protein line-up made without nuts, which makes it the pick if the peanut and almond ranges are off the table.
Why Choose Macro Mike Golden Smooth Pea Protein
- 23g+ plant protein per serve – with a full amino acid profile including the branched-chain aminos leucine, isoleucine and valine
- Golden Canadian pea protein – a cleaner, more neutral-tasting pea variety than the standard green pea used in most plant proteins
- Acacia fibre for smoothness – the ingredient doing the heavy lifting on texture, helping the powder disperse rather than clump
- Made without nuts – no peanut or almond protein in the formula, unlike the rest of the Macro Mike protein range
- Coconut milk powder – adds natural MCT fats and a creamier mouthfeel without any dairy
- Naturally sweetened and coloured – stevia and thaumatin for sweetness, gardenia yellow extract for colour, with nothing artificial
- Free from dairy and gluten – fully plant-based and suitable for vegan and vegetarian diets
- Made in Australia – blended in Queensland
What Makes Golden Pea Protein Different?
Pea protein has a texture reputation, and it's mostly deserved. The standard version is milled from green field peas, which carry a distinctly earthy, vegetal flavour and a particle structure that tends to sit on the tongue. That's the chalkiness people complain about.
Golden peas are a different variety — paler, milder, and considerably more neutral in taste. Starting from a cleaner base means flavours read more accurately and there's less underlying earthiness to mask, which is why heavily sweetened formulas are often used to cover ordinary pea protein and aren't needed to the same degree here.
Acacia fibre handles the second half of the problem. It's a soluble fibre from the acacia tree that disperses readily in liquid and helps carry the protein particles with it, so the powder wets through and mixes rather than sitting in lumps at the bottom of the shaker. Coconut milk powder rounds it out, contributing medium-chain triglycerides and the fat content that gives a shake body — the same reason dairy proteins feel richer.
Nutritionally, pea protein is a solid all-round source. It's naturally high in the branched-chain amino acids that support muscle repair, along with lysine, arginine and glutamic acid. It's also free of the common allergens that rule out whey and nut-based proteins for a lot of people, which is what makes it such a widely usable base.
How To Use
Mix one 35g scoop or sachet with water or plant-based milk and shake or blend well. Drink straight away.
It also holds up well beyond the shaker — stir it through oats and yoghurt alternatives, blend it into smoothies, or use it in baking and protein balls.
Use daily to help meet your protein requirements, or after training to support recovery. Nutritional values vary slightly between flavours.
